Promix srl, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative solutions for sports, street furniture, and public and private spaces, has patented Pro Sand Bio, the vegetable infill for sport fields.

Promix offers a range of high-performance infill solutions for sports, including athletics tracks, horse riding, football, rugby, tennis, padel, and safety flooring for playgrounds and street furniture. Among its underlays, it designs and manufactures drainage and safety solutions, as well as flooring with synthetic grass finishes for the stability and safety of athletes and users.

Today, Promix offers an entirely vegetable stabilisation infill: Pro Sand Bio, composed of 100% recycled pit shells. Choosing Pro Sand Bio instead of mineral sand helps preserve the environment by avoiding sand extraction.

Thanks to its composition, Pro Sand Bio does not compact, ensuring excellent drainage and water permeability.

The Pro Sand Bio performance infill is complemented by Pro Biofill, a latest-generation performance infill consisting of a specially designed mixture of pit shells and cork granules to offer stability, drainage and high performance; its characteristics make it compliant with LND and FIFA regulations. Completely free of microplastics, it offers performance comparable to traditional plastic infill, the sale of which will be banned from September 2031.

Together, the two 100% plant-based infills therefore offer numerous advantages over the infills used to date.

Firstly, the system offers similar performance to plastic infill, and what is more, it maintains its performance even in freezing conditions; maintenance is as simple as for synthetic infill.

The main advantage is its environmental compatibility, with no microplastics and complete recyclability.
Furthermore, the playing surface heats up less under solar radiation, making it cooler in the summer months, limiting the heat island effect and emitting no odour.

For non-professional use, the line also includes Pro Biofill One, a unique infill with both stabilising and performance functions, composed of silica sand, pit granules and enhanced cork with antistatic properties: its practicality makes it ideal for eight-a-side football pitches and five-a-side football pitches.

The Pro Biofill line is patented by Promix and distributed exclusively by Italgreen.
