Thanks to this project, promoted on the occasion of the 2021 World Ski Championships and the forthcoming 2026 Winter Olympics, the prestigious tourist resort of the Ampezzo Dolomites will have an aquatic swimming facility that will enhance the tourist offer in all seasons and serve as a facility for international gatherings of athletes for altitude training.

The designers in charge tried to optimise the interferences resulting from the routes of the various pre-existing areas as a matter of priority and made all the necessary checks, which also involved the correct sizing of the spaces and pools according to the type of users and swimming-water-wellness activities, as well as the sizing of the technical support rooms.
The morphology of the facility externally preserves the original features of “mountain architecture”, while the interior enhances the large structural metal and wood nave at the pool level.

In particular, the structural and seismic upgrading of the entire structure has been planned with the requalification of the building envelope in its entirety, adjusted to the new regulatory standards.
With regard to the functional layout and the activities carried out within it, the architectural and plant engineering works will mainly involve the multi-level swimming pool floor, including both the sports and leisure pools, and the spaces serving the various activities of the swimming pool (changing rooms, technical rooms) located on the ground floor.

The project defines a wide range of services for individuals and groups, with effects on sports tourism at high altitudes, with new opportunities for aquatic swimming activities in support of minor practices that can be carried out in the water, not only for health and well-being, but also preparatory to sports activities in general.
