The high altitude athletics track in Italy, at 2,035 metres, has been renovated with a new surface with performance characteristics suitable for professional activity, especially for high altitude sports training.

The track no longer had a homologable sports surface, showing various differences and no longer guaranteeing the minimum performance level required; in fact, the sports surface appeared to be deeply worn and in some points the surface, in addition to no longer having any elastic response, did not even guarantee a safe grip, constituting a potential danger for users.

The Administration’s intention was to create a track with performance characteristics that were not extreme, with a level of “softness” suitable for professionals in the mid-racing sector.
The system installed is the 13 mm Rekortan M, a sandwich system with EPDM granules sown finish made on site directly by Polytan personnel.

The eight-lane track, Rainbow Blue (which also covers the bezel with the hedge pit), is flanked by a dark grey “zero lane”, positioned inside the first one to allow training on a softer lane, ideal for specific training or post-trauma rehabilitation without interfering with the normal performance of activities on the main track.
