As we have seen on the previous pages, among the drainage systems for natural grass football pitches, the cross-drainage mesh structure is the optimal one in the ratio between cost and functionality.
A further improvement in the overall effectiveness of the system is achieved by adopting a package of works, ranging from the substrate to the turf, such as the one chosen for the construction of a field at the Federal Technical Centre of Coverciano, where in 2017 Galardini Sport has implemented its own patent, the Shuttle®.
It is a system that is proposed exclusively to football clubs, and which includes a draining net, a draining substrate and a high quality turf, enabling the field to tolerate many training sessions during the week and to have an always excellent plant cover.
Specifically, the system includes: a network of transverse and longitudinal drains clogged with draining materials with specific grain sizes; a silica sand substrate enriched with bioactivators and zeolites; a turf associated with macrothermes (certified by ITGAP – Univeristy of Georgia) and microthermes, for a greater possibility of use of the surface. The drainage capacity is 300 mm/hour, and the surface, with the right maintenance, remains usable for at least 10/15 years.
In addition to the management of the federal centre of Coverciano, Galardini Sport has created the grass turf – natural or hybrid – for stadiums such as: the Stade Des Alpes in Grenoble, the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, the Allian Riviera in Nice, the V├ęlodrome Stadium in Marseille, and in Italy the Franchi in Florence, the Suning Training Center in Appiano Gentile, the Castellani Stadium in Empoli.
