As we have seen on the previous pages, among the drainage systems for natural grass football pitches, the cross-drainage mesh structure is the optimal one in the ratio between cost and functionality.
A further improvement in the overall effectiveness of the system is achieved by adopting a package of works, ranging from the substrate to the turf, such as the one chosen for the construction of a field at the Federal Technical Centre of Coverciano, where in 2017 Galardini Sport has implemented its own patent, the Shuttle®.
It is a system that is proposed exclusively to football clubs, and which includes a draining net, a draining substrate and a high quality turf, enabling the field to tolerate many training sessions during the week and to have an always excellent plant cover.
Specifically, the system includes: a network of transverse and longitudinal drains clogged with draining materials with specific grain sizes; a silica sand substrate enriched with bioactivators and zeolites; a turf associated with macrothermes (certified by ITGAP – Univeristy of Georgia) and microthermes, for a greater possibility of use of the surface. The drainage capacity is 300 mm/hour, and the surface, with the right maintenance, remains usable for at least 10/15 years.
In addition to the management of the federal centre of Coverciano, Galardini Sport has created the grass turf – natural or hybrid – for stadiums such as: the Stade Des Alpes in Grenoble, the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, the Allian Riviera in Nice, the Vélodrome Stadium in Marseille, and in Italy the Franchi in Florence, the Suning Training Center in Appiano Gentile, the Castellani Stadium in Empoli.
