When it comes to new-generation, environmentally friendly synthetic turf sports surfaces, Hatko Italia uses the latest technologies for products such as Bio Surface, which is made from 100% plant-based infill.

The problem of disposing of synthetic turf sports surfaces, and the restriction on the use of polymer infill adopted by ECHA, which will ban its sale in the coming years, raise the question of which systems are most suitable for football and rugby pitches.

In this regard, Hatko Italia – a company specializing in the construction, installation, and maintenance of artificial turf and reinforced natural grass fields produced using the latest technologies – offers, among other things, the Bio Surface system, which does not require the use of rubber or silica sand.

Bio Surface does not use rubber or silica sand. The stabilising infill is made with Bio Sand, a product consisting of 100% corn cobs; the performance infill is Bio Ground, also entirely plant-based, obtained from a mix of coconut fibre, corn cobs and cork.

The system is then completed by the exclusive Bio Green backing.

Bio Green is a geotextile applied to the primary layer by thermofusion, without coating and without the use of latex or polyurethane. This allows drainage across the entire surface and not limited to individual drainage holes as in traditional backings. The surface drains at a rate 5 times faster than synthetic turf with latex or polyurethane backing: this is particularly useful when using vegetable infill, which does not risk floating if drainage times are slowed down.

The system Bio Surface by Hatko Italia as a whole maintains tuft tear resistance well above FIFA or LND requirements.
This technology, comprising entirely plant-based and biodegradable infill and Bio Green geotextile, makes the turf entirely recyclable at the end of its life.

Specifically, the yarn is a single-shaped Omega XL polyethylene monofilament, with a thickness of 1.6 mm and a height of 60+2 mm.

The Bio Surface system by Hatko Italia is FIFA Quality/Quality Pro, LND standard, NF and World Rugby approved.
All Hatko Italia turf products are manufactured in accordance with the requirements of UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 for design, production and traceability by companies that have demonstrated the certification of their Corporate Quality System by recognised bodies.

The products comply with the characteristics of the technical data sheet and ISO 14001:2015, which sets out the requirements for an environmental management system by the manufacturing company.
