Hexagone’s Buky One, the robot for turf maintenance

The importance of the proper maintenance of synthetic turf pitches, in order to ensure the quality of play, is well known. With Hexagone’s Buky One, operations are fully robotised and simplified.

Today, with Hexagone‘s Buky One, the maintenance of artificial turf can be fully robotised, with savings in labour hours and energy consumption.

The care and maintenance of an artificial turf sports pitch in fact requires the use of tools capable of brushing the surface while limiting the dispersion of filler aggregates.

Until now, these operations have been carried out directly by maintainers on board a thermal tractor equipped with the necessary equipment: now, thanks to intelligent management of its motors, Hexagone’s Buky One robot does not require the presence of the maintainer.

It also uses only the amount of power generated by its beats, reducing CO2 emissions to zero.

The robot works with a centimetre-accurate GPS/RTK system to complete a field in approximately 4h 30′, and a full recharge takes 6 hours.

The features of Hexagone’s Buky One

The robot is equipped with three tools, the working depth of which can be precisely set by the robot, depending on the field and its conditions.

The brush combs the artificial grass fibre, capturing the used fibre filaments and preventing them from scattering; the harrow gently thins out the clogging material, and by programming a route from the outside to the inside of the field, facilitates its recovery; the magnet attracts small metal objects (hairpins, clips, fence hooks, …) reducing the risk of cuts.

Thanks to its LIDAR, Hexagone’s Buky One stops at a safe distance should a person or obstacle come in front of it. When the path is clear, the machine automatically resumes its cleaning operation.

Via a colour touch screen interface, Buky One can be reprogrammed to perform the desired cleaning perimeter. The screen allows the cleaning operation to be verified via an action report.

The machine can store up to 10 sports fields, thus allowing the option of sharing the rental at different sports facilities.

In order to guarantee the quality of play on the artificial turf, while maintaining high and approved quality standards, the manufacturers recommend brushing every 20 hours of play and a decompacting operation every 100 hours.

The correct maintenance of synthetic turf pitches not only ensures consistently excellent and ‘approved’ playability, but also prevents injuries to players, as the turf remains much softer.

Maintenance and warranty of Hexagone’s Buky One robots

To make maintenance faster and more effective, each Buky One has a self-diagnostic programme.

This means that the robot’s sensors actively monitor all important components such as motors, electronics and brushes.

The Buky One is covered by a 2-year warranty that includes repairs and maintenance, as well as on-site service (excluding worn parts); every Buky One technician, within every authorised dealership worldwide, has been trained by a team of experts at the Hexagone production site in France and has access to the most innovative diagnostic equipment possible: their continuous training keeps them up-to-date with the technology inside the robot.
