The most recent opportunity to see Sportissimo‘s athletics equipment in action at international level was the 2024 European Championships, held at the Olympic Stadium in Rome from 7 to 12 June, for which Sportissimo was the official supplier.
On the parterre of the Olympic Stadium we saw, among other equipment, the pole vault drop zone, made in accordance with World Athletics standards, consisting of several modular blocks with independent covers.
From left, the protective cover of the fall pit for the long and triple jump; bench for athletes next to the covered long jump pit and mobile covered bench. Below, the pole vault drop zone.
The foam resin – which we also find in the high jump drop zone – is composed of two different densities, assembled in a honeycomb pattern, so as to improve the absorption of the athlete’s fall in a soft and enveloping manner.
Each block is lined with electrowelded waterproof PVC sheet, with a venting net underneath for the immediate escape of air when the athlete impacts on the mattress.
Other Sportissimo athletics equipment supplied for the European Championships in Rome is the PVC sheet for covering and protecting the long jump and triple jump drop pit, as well as benches for athletes of different types.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of founder Dante Acerbis, who was joined over time by his sons Jacopo and Leonardo, what was once a small handicraft production of equipment has become a company specialized in the sale of all kinds of sports equipment and street furniture, whose most prestigious achievements include supplying track and field at major international events: from the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara, to the Junior European Championships in 2013 in Rieti and 2017 in Grosseto, to the 2015 Paralympic World Championships in Doha, and up to the XXX Universiade in 2019 in Naples.
Since 2001, when it obtained ISO 9001 certification, Sportissimo has improved its internal organisational strategies, being able to count on increasingly qualified products and proposing cutting-edge projects, searching for the right solutions to meet the specific needs of each individual sports facility.
This is also thanks to the personnel who directly carry out the assembly of the equipment without the need to rely on external collaborators, thus offering a complete all-round service.
In the future of the Sportissimo company there is the will to strengthen relations with those who build the facilities, in order to give a qualified contribution to the completion of the facilities with the most suitable equipment; and to have obtained the supply for athletics at the European Championships in Rome is a reason for great satisfaction and confirmation of the right path taken.
