Thirteen years after the last retopping, the athletics facility inside the Arena has been completely renovated, adopting a “sandwich” type surface with a new combination of green and orange colors.
The chosen system is of the multilayer sandwich type, with the base layer and the upper layer in coated EPDM granules. The material has been chosen for a level of performance that is also suitable for training activities rather than extreme competitive performance, with a higher degree of elasticity.

The lower layer, of 9 mm, is made by cold casting of black EPDM rubber granules with predetermined grain size curve and single-component polyurethane polymer as binder. This is followed by a waterproofing layer made of a mixture of coloured two-component polyurethane resin and coloured EPDM terpolymer powder; finally, the surface wear layer with a total thickness of 4 mm, consisting of a self-levelling coloured two-component polyurethane resin casting with toothed rakes, and the subsequent manual or mechanical sowing of coloured two-component terpolymer granules (EPDM) performed on the two-component resin layer not yet catalyzed to obtain the partial incorporation in the same.

On the occasion of the reconstruction of the sports surface, the entire system of platforms for jumps and throws has been redesigned, making it more rational and efficient. In addition, the natural grass surface of the central soccer field has been redone with ready effect turf.
