The Games of the 34th Olympiad will take place in Los Angeles (USA) from 14 to 30 July 2028. This is the third time that the Californian city has hosted the Summer Olympics, after 1932 and 1984.

Los Angeles Coliseum (ph. Chad Robertson).
In view of the deadline, Los Angeles has launched a vast public transport implementation programme, part of which has already been implemented and part of which is to be completed over the next three years.

The Games programme includes 40 competition venues, spread across various areas of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. As recommended by the IOC, the US bid was based on the use of existing facilities, or those already under construction, combined with the inevitable temporary facilities required for certain sports, especially outdoor sports (sport climbing, BMX, skateboarding, beach volleyball).
The venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics will be the Memorial Coliseum, one of the most illustrious stadiums in the US. In order to host the athletics competitions, a temporary track will have to be built, raised about 10 feet above the current playing surface and supported by thousands of poles: an impressive project that will cost £70 million.

The opening ceremony under the historic colonnade of the Coliseum will be followed by a more formal start to the games at the more modern and spectacular SoFi Stadium; the closing ceremonies for the Olympic and Paralympic Games will also be held at the Coliseum.

The additional sports that the host country can propose and that have been approved by the IOC are: baseball/softball, cricket (T20) and lacrosse (six-a-side), which are part of the Olympic programme but were missing in Paris; flag football and squash, which are new additions to the Olympics.
