Pilkington Italia S.p.A. is a company of the NSG Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of glass and glass systems for Architecture and Automotive, with production facilities in 30 countries on four continents and commercial operations in over 100 countries.
In Italy, the Architecture division is located in Venice, Italy, where clear float glass, extra-clear float glass and laminated safety glass are produced, and the full range of Pilkington branded glass is marketed.
Since 1826, the name Pilkington has been synonymous with innovation and the ability to invent cutting-edge technologies and products, which have often led the way in the glass market. Recall the invention in 1952 of the float process by Sir Alastair Pilkington, which revolutionized the glass manufacturing industry from the 1960s onwards and is now used for the industrial production of 90% of the glass manufactured in the world. In the architectural glass sector, the first energy-saving glass (Pilkington K Glass™) was introduced in the 1970s, followed by clear glass for fire protection (Pilkington Pyrostop®), and high-performance coated products for thermal insulation and solar control (Pilkington Suncool™), the world’s first self-cleaning glass (Pilkington Activ™) and more recently, an antimicrobial glass to combat the spread of viruses and bacteria, providing solutions for every shared, or high contact critical surface (Pilkington SaniTise™).
