The implementations have involved both the modernisation of the old surface with a new cycle of sports turf in compliance with standards, and the actual renovation of the existing structure, with the removal of the old cement subfloor and the formation of a new, completely synthetic, state-of-the-art flooring in accordance with current Federation (FCI) regulations.

In detail, the work involved the demolition and removal of the deteriorated concrete base; the sealing of the existing cross cracks with epoxy resin; the regularisation of the expansion joints; the renovation with painting of the underfloor; the reconstruction of the filler base as the laying surface for the new synthetic surface; the realisation of the new Mapecoat TNS multilayer system based on acrylic resins, specifically developed for the construction of outdoor velodromes, with high characteristics of abrasion resistance, mechanical strength, and an optimal mix of sliding and tyre stability.

The total renovation of the existing surface proved to be particularly long, difficult and demanding, both in terms of the specialised machinery used and the manpower employed, as the old deteriorated layers had become particularly consolidated over time, and only the experience and efficiency of the companies involved in the project allowed the work to be successfully completed.
