Should the big stadium be built inside or outside the urban context? The theme of the relationship between the stadium and the city resurfaces when reading the DOCFAP (Feasibility Document) presented by Inter and Milan for the San Siro area.

Projects and programmes for green spaces, both sports and urban, have a common denominator: attention to the climate problem, which no longer corresponds to the parameters we were used to a few decades ago.

The IOC (International Olympic Committee) announced the winners of the IOC Climate Action Awards at the end of September. The Committee is indeed very active in promoting actions – by Athletes, Committees and Federations – aimed at reducing climate-changing emissions: this is the framework for the above-mentioned Award.

On the training event that Tsport and Sport&Impianti offered, both remotely and (in collaboration with Theatro) in-presence, to talk about PNRR and its influence on sports facilities and school infrastructure, we asked the 600 participants what they had heard most interestingly on that occasion and what topics they would like to see covered in the future.

While some projects were (rightly) rejected, this does not mean that the European Plan is not an opportunity to improve the offer of sports facilities in our country.

The topic of urban regeneration, dealt with in issue 365 of Tsport, is connected with that of land use: one of the aspects highlighted during the summer season that has just passed is that of microclimatic alterations due to the transformation of unbuilt areas.

We have also discussed this in the recent Sport&Impianti webinars. When faced with the design of a sports facility, which requires the installation of specific materials related to the athletic performance of future users, a generic specification definition (perhaps accompanied by the words ‘or equivalent’) is not enough to guarantee the result.
